SNAPShots explores the range of works presented by the Society of Northern Alberta Print-artists’ Print Newsletter since its inception in 1987. The SNAP print newsletter is a quarterly publication that details the activities of the society and includes a limited edition print in an effort to disseminate examples of fine art printmaking. Over the years the SNAP print newsletter has featured emerging artists, local established artists, individuals working in other Canadian print co-operatives and international artists contacted through various visiting artists programs. The society encourages a broad interpretation of the medium of the “print,” resulting in experimentation with the format, such as in Blair Brennan’s laminated candy wrappers. Other notables in the collection are Lyndal Osbourne, Richard Yates, and Mendelson Joe.
This project brings the world of printmaking, and its huge variety of ark-making potential, to people that may otherwise have been unaware.
Organized by the Society of Northern Alberta Print-artists in partnership with Harcourt House Gallery for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Travelling Exhibition Program. Curated by Allen Ball, Executive Director, Harcourt House Gallery.
